Maddy was an 18 year old senior at Cambridge Isanti High School when she passed away on May 24, 2016 after a 3-year battle with childhood cancer, specifically Rhabdomyosarcoma.

Maddy was a typical teenager who loved life, her family, and adored her friends. She was an avid softball and volleyball player, enjoyed attending concerts and loved outdoor summer fun on any lake.

Maddy's spirit lives on both on and off the field. We plan to honor her memory with 50% of net proceeds going to the Maddy Nelson Memorial Foundation.

The Maddy Nelson Memorial Foundation supports charities giving back to children facing life-threatening illnesses. The foundation also provides scholarships for those that have been affected by cancer and are pursuing a college education. Beyond these efforts, the foundation is always looking for ways to support those who have been affected by cancer. 

The CI Grand Slammers softball club hosts a softball tournament in Maddy's honor each summer, and ​50% of all net profits go directly to the Maddy Nelson Memorial Foundation. The tournament also offers scholarships to applicants from the 16U and 18U teams. Applications open each spring.
