FALL BALL

Fall league provides an opportunity for returning players to keep playing softball and gain experience at the next level of play and it allows new players that are thinking about playing traveling softball next summer to experience the traveling program.

Teams typically practice 1-2 times per week before school starts and 1-2 times per week once school is in session.

My daughter wants to play school sports, will this get in the way?

No. We encourage players to play multiple sports! Coaches are made aware of all school sport schedules prior to the season beginning. They do their best to schedule practices when the majority of players will be able to attend. A player will not be penalized for missing practice because they had a school sport commitment.

Are there tournaments for fall ball?

Yes, tournaments are available for fall ball. Coaches will contact parents at the beginning of the season to see if they can commit to attending one of the tournaments. Tournaments are usually 1-day and take place on Saturdays.

My Daughter has never played traveling softball -should we sign up for Fall Ball?

If your daughter likes the game of softball and wants to take it to the next level - Fall ball is a great introduction into traveling. If you are part of the in-house program and you want to see more competitive play and increased skill level - Fall ball is a great opportunity.  If you think your daughter would be interested in playing traveling softball next summer -we highly recommend playing fall ball!!

What about the weather?

Fall weather conditions are not always the best. However, we play rain or shine and the decision to play is made at the fields by the 2 coaches and umpire in agreement.  Players are asked to be prepared for any type of weather conditions.  If games are cancelled-they are not made up unless a date/time can be determined between the teams.

Where do we play games?

Games generally played in the north west or north central area. We do not have any home games for the fall ball season - so travel is required. Usually we can get to games within an hour or sooner depending on location.

Why does it say that signing up does not guarantee a spot on a team?

We are asking all players interested in playing -to sign up! This helps us see how many players we have that are interested in playing. Reasons for not having a spot on a team include: not having enough players at a certain age level, having too many players at a certain age level.

What about uniforms?

We plan to order shirts for teams for fall ball (if not every player on a team has a traveling uniform). Players should wear softball pants (preferably black).  Players should wear royal blue softball socks (which we can order for you).  

How will teams be determined:

Teams will be determined the following tryouts and players will be notified of their team typically within one week of tryouts.  Coach input will be taken into consideration for teams.

What equipment is needed?

Players need to have a glove, helmets, and cleats (cleats are preferred for safety reasons). bats and balls are all provided by the team. Some players choose to wear infield face masks - this is required at the younger age levels.
